Know that there are options with regards to scholarships. European students can take advantage of the Erasmus+ programme (if coming for short stay mobility) or may choose scholarships awarded by the Romanian State. A number of scholarships provided by the Romanian state are also available for non-EU students.

1. State scholarships [more]
The amount and number of state scholarships granted to citizens of other countries is determined by Government decision. Universities can decide to additionally award scholarships for foreign students, depending on their priorities.
Rules for state scholarships:
• Scholarships are awarded in the national currency (Romanian lei);
• Scholarships are suspended in case of failure to promote a year of study, violation of the Romanian legislation or rules of conduct established by universities. Scholarships are still awarded 30 days after the completion of doctoral or post-university studies.
• Scholarships do not cover personal expenses and international transport; it is in your charge to pay for the accommodation in the university student dormitories.
2. Scholarships through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs [

Who can qualify: citizens of non EU countries (irrespective of their country of residence). Priority is given to citizens from non EU states with which Romania does not have cultural and education cooperation agreements.
The scholarships are granted for three levels of study:
a) 1st cycle (Bachelor): This scheme is dedicated to graduates of high schools or of equivalent pre-university systems, as well as to candidates who require the equivalent of partial studies and the continuation of their studies in Romania. The complete cycle of university studies lasts for 3 to 6 years, according to the specific requirements of the chosen faculty, and ends with a final examination (Bachelor);
b) 2nd cycle (Master): This scheme is dedicated to graduates of university/post graduate studies; it lasts for 1,5 to 2 years and ends with a dissertation;
c) 3rd cycle (PhD) this scheme is dedicated to the graduates of university/postgraduate studies (i.e. Master); it lasts for 3-4 years, in keeping with the specific requirements of the chosen faculty, and ends with a doctoral thesis.
The beneficiaries of the scholarships will study only in the Romanian language. The candidates who are not able to study in Romanian are offered one supplementary preparatory year to study the language.
